A Little Sephora Haul

Usually, all my makeup purchases are done at Ulta or Belk ( a department store in the south). Between those two, I have access to all the makeup brands and skincare I could ever ask for. They are also very short drive away (Hooray for convienence), but I did make the extra drive out to the mall to my local Sephora this weekend. I went mostly for clothes, but how does a makeup lover resist having a look in Sephora? I scored big in the sale section. 3 of the formula X nail polishes at about half off. I got two colors of the Cupcakes and Cashmere #colorcurators collaboration and one from the Song of Style colaboration! I also got my holy grail mascara, the Makeup Forever Smoky Extravagant.
Latte Run is a pinky nude (or blush) , Haute Sauce is a bright orangey red , and then Nude for you is more of a classic nude. I am currently wearing Latte Run on my nails and love it! True to formula X polishes, they are opaque, glossy, and long wearing. I’m excited to test out the other two colors!

The MUFE Smoky Extravagant Mascara is my favorite mascara of ALL TIME. I love the volume that it gives my lashes while still keeping the length.

The Last Days of Summer

My last chance to dress up a little for the summer was going to see Spring Awakening at the Straz Center for Performing Arts in Tampa. We got there little earlier to escape traffic. Amazingly there wasn’t much traffic and finding parking was a breeze. My friend Danielle and I got to enjoy a little of the outdoors because the sun was setting and it wasn’t boiling.

So what did I wear?

Dress: H&M

Shoes: Ross and the brand is indigo

Watch: Nine West

Bag : Versona

Bracelet: Juciy Couture

We had a fantastic time! The show was great and made me tear up a little.  The ride there and back was broadway fangirl’s dream. Makes the list of one of my favorite summer memories.

Thoughts on This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

Sunai Sunai eyes like coal, sing you a song and steal your soul. I read this savage song by victoria schwab and I have opinions. Trying really hard to not spoil the book for anyone.

This is a world where  humans are in constant danger of the monsters they have created. Each monster is “born” through some act of evil. Malachi and Corsai are the most common, but the Sunai are born from really really bad events. These monsters and how they’re controlled, are what ultimately is destroying Verity City . THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT TSS. In every page,  you can feel this anxious, gloomy aura that sets the entire book. Towards the end some of the gloom is lifted, but not completely. (There is an entire book left for that to happen) It did take me a little while to get sucked into the story, and it was all worth it. There was no romance between the two protagonists Kate and August. This always refreshing that two characters, male and female are able to have a friendship, kick major booty, and be able to survive several beings trying to kill them. I really enjoyed that August, the monster, is the one that comes from a “stable” home. He has a family that will love him to the ends of the earth. It really humanizes  him and I understand a little more why he wants to be “normal”. Kate, the human, doesn’t have the same luck. She longs for a family and sadly still didn’t have one by the end of the book. I still saw Kate for what she is, a scared sad teenager that wants to have something normal as well. They both have that connection even if they don’t admit it to each other.

I know that Sony has optioned This Savage Song for a movie, and it’s incredibly exciting! I want to see these characters and this story come to life. I am also fearful of what Sony could do to it. Will this be another Percy Jackson situation?? God I hope not!! I have faith hat this story will be done justice and I will pay my $9 to see it one day.

Alex and Ani

If you know me personally, then you’ll know  jewelry isn’t something I wear a lot of. I rarely pick my outfits before bed, and during the mad dash to get out the door, jewelry is sacrificed to breakfast and being on time. A major resolution I set for myself this year is to wear more jewelry because details are what take you from ‘she obviously rushed out the door’ to ‘she looks put together’.  Of course,  I needed to refresh (more like grow) my collection and have new inspiration. The limit was 2 pieces. I wasn’t going to buy an entire collection and not wear the majority of it.

I picked 2 pieces from Alex and Ani, and so far, I love them. At Disney Springs (yes I typed Downtown Disney first), NOT ONLY do they sell bracelets inside the big Disney store, they also have an Alex and Ani boutique.

Bracelet: I really liked the princess bracelets in the matte metal finish that has now been discontinued. They still have a few but once a character sells out it is gone. I got my favorite bookworm, Princess Belle, in the silver finish.

Wrap Ring: Alex and Ani also have different types of rings. I got the wrap ring from the birth stone collection. The gemstones are ruby red for July.

So it’s September and I have been wearing these for about 2 months. I got them around my birthday. They are two pieces that I remember to wear everyday. I have a gold and silver option depending on what I want that day, or wear them together for the mixed metals trend.  I plan on buying a gold bracelet and a silver ring so everything is balanced out. I also want a necklace but those are a little more expensive, so I’m saving.

Fall Reads 2016

*Elisabeth,  you are writing this in the middle of a hurricane, so if this doesn’t get up Sept. 1, don’t beat yourself up.*

August has come and gone in a blink of an eye. School has started up again, but does that mean I’ll shorten my reading list? HA no. I still have an ambitious list . The goal now is to get 3 chapters into all of the books. I may finish some, and I may not, but the point is to read right?  So here we go!

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

I AM SO EXCITED TO READ THIS. I have been waiting almost too patiently for this book. It’s been out for a few months, but my library ordered it so I wasn’t going to buy it. *I’m sorry Victoria* I’ve already gotten a few pages in and let me tell you, it’s great!

The Nightingale
The adventure of reading in Spanish is a long one. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this one. I do not plan on finishing it. Spanish is not my dominant language, this will not be a quick read.

The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan

This book has been on my wish list for ages. I first  heard of TOL when Ingrid Nilsen talked about it in a favorites video a literal year ago (This is it). It was before I got a job, and the libraries where I live didn’t have them (FOR SHAME). I want to ration it, but pretty sure I’m going to finish it in a few days.

Real Artists have Day Jobs by Sara Benincasa
Non-fiction is quickly becoming something I can’t live without. I saw this at the library, thought it looked good, checked it out. The cover and layout seem fun, I’m in need of a few chuckles, I’m going to give this a go.

Knowing me I’ll probably drop books and pick up a few new ones. I’ll try to do a wrap up towards October (where does time go?), possibly a video??????? I’m playing around with my camera we shall see. Tell me, what are you reading this month?
